Subject: What a long strange fucked up trip of 15 years it's beeeennnn!
This is the first show I ever went to 'Experienced'.
I was young, drunk underage, and had no idea what I was getting into. I'd seen DSO a couple of times before but only really smoked and drank and danced (was still in HS then).
I started working at this venue in June, quitting my job working for a family-owned Theater that paid 1/3rd of what I made at the venue...I wouldn't find out until this year that that would be the biggest mistake of my life (they paid the teller of in goldddddd).
Anyways I got super bugged out in the beginning of the show because the shit was really heavy plus being young and drunk underage in a Casino that you work at (which is illegal).{Truckin'} Once all the pictures started moving and dancing I knew I was in for a ride {Bertha}.
I started getting this underlying loathing feeling I couldn't shake. I was really lit so was everyone at this show (you can hear the crowd reactions) I was bugging tfo by the time {FOTD} was on.
I went to find my friend who was my ride there, by this time {jam} and the music wasss sooooo psychedelic and the panning the soundguy was doing between the L, R, PA hangs was officially wigging me tfo.
I grabbed him (my friend not the FOH engineer) and tried to tell him i had to leave but the words couldn't come out right, nothing made sense, language was UN-comprehend-able. IDK What I said to convince him to take me out of there but I did. He was really pissed off cause we somehow got comp tickets and Foundation Room Passes for the afterparty (which was only for Phriends and Pham of the band crew etc. couldn't publicly buy tix).
We walked out in front of the venue and my friend decided to fuck with me and was all like "aw don't look at the carpet" (he was sober with the exception of alcohol). So of course I looked and it was like the carpet opened up to a hole in the earth and I could see straight into a deep black dark pit that possibly could've been hell (like the same feeling when your staring into a tweakers eyes).
Got home, lived in a prty/flophause (1st yr of College) and shit was weird all these drunk bro dudes from hs there playing poker and they know I'm lit and interrogating me for the rest which i wouldn't give them.
I finally found my homie, made him eat the other jawn and watch him lose his mind for like 2 hours, but it's cool cause I went through the same thing but I was there to talk/calm him down. ANyways a crazy but good night. I worked the load-in and got to setup gear as well as got to hold Phil's Bass after politely asking a ton of technical questions to his backline tech.
I had the local crew shirt from this but gave it to this junkie and never saw it again ;( I went the other 2 nights and worked the load out on the last night and got the actual setlist from the stage which is one of my most prized possessions (as far as Dead memorabilia).
Long Story short:
All these years I beat myself up thinking I 'failed the test' (They played Senor after I walked out which is 100% symbolic/synchronistic with my troubled experience/life of the last 15 years), but I actually had passed later finding out the deeper darker secrets of the (live) music industry, and Phil who was the one channeling me knowing wtf is up and telling me to 'gtfo while I still can'. Which I did but made the mistake of going back there (and other venues) working for the biggest gang in the world in exchange for a payrate you could never refuse ;( for the last 15 yrs.
All these years all of my internal problems with self-intrinsic values and Women etc. i thought were because of psychedelics, but I was 100% wrong. That's what they wanted me to believe. It took this global pandemic to give me enough time to not work shows, think, and realize the bigger picture of what was actually going on (Song they sing about Children that didn't make Aoxom oxa).
With that being said and shit ever opens up again to the scale we had it before, think twice before not only giving corporate venues (Live Nation etc.) not just your $ BUT YOUR ENERGY! Keep your circles tight, keep shows small and now you know one of the reasons Phil stopped playing with not only Furthur, but ALL of these big venues on a larger scale...They say it's b/c of his health/wants to be with his kids but I believe it's more than just that but he isn't going to publicly state...(look up the 2010 Furthur rehearsals on setlist.fm there's no existing recordings of them anywhere for a reason;0).
Anyway I hope this message rings a clear bell and if anything you suspected in your life that was troubled or messed up in any way and you couldn't put a finger on it, I hope this shines some life on your situation.
With that remember 'there ain't no angel born in hell that can break that satan's spell'
Happy Solstice or whatever it is you celebrate and I hope this year brings a lot more new beginnings than endings, Cheers! (Iam now a free man)!
Footnotes:
Dear MR. Craig T,
I'd like to personally thank you for recording this show and the Furthur 2011 March Tower run shows (Jailor Serry). I was the guy who screamed during 'Cassidy' opener ruining your recording. That show was a nother game-changer/turning point in my life. You seem to have been taping a lot of the shows I went to that were life-changing on many levels for me. Thanks again for not only taping but just being there and 'preserving' the most important shows of my and my close friends' lives. I've finally had the time to start uploading 'nuggets' from my personal 'vault' of live recordings that have not been uploaded to Archive before. So feel free to check them out here on my page because how else am I supposed to 'give back' for the effort you put into taping/editing/uploading?

It would not burn because the files are in 24 bit FLAC format, as is noted on the details page. You need to convert them to 16 bit FLAC, then WAV, before burning.

Subject: Problems burning show
Beware this show gave me a real hard time trying to burn. I never was able to put it on disk. The first cd will not burn (it seems to be a problem with the first track). I have copied hundreds of shows and this is the first one that just will not work. I would recommend getting a different source for this show.
